An error, a mistake, a failure, a setback, or perhaps an “experiment,” “hypothesis verification,” “innovation prototyping,” “the next iteration”?
How do we in organizations think and talk about failure? Are failures hard to talk about because they cause shame and discomfort? Or are they valuable lessons for moving forward, honing innovations or preventing future failures?
We want to dedicate our November leadership meeting to the lessons that come from failures. Would aviation be safe without processes for reporting failures, analyzing them and improving systems? Without failures, there are no lessons for improvement.
The Formula 1 teams, Mercedes, Google, honestly and courageously face their mistakes to turn them into successes. They don’t disavow them, they don’t look for fault in others, they don’t bury their heads in the sand when it comes to facing the consequences – on the contrary, learning from their mistakes is their conscious and very effective strategy leading to success.
We invite you to a meeting where we will talk about the role of error and misguided actions. We will draw lessons from them for the future, both for us and our organizations.
We will invite leaders from different worlds to collide distant perspectives on approaches to failures and, as a result, bring to light their potential for organizational growth. They will discuss:
Piotr Ploszajski – a professor at the Warsaw School of Economics,
Anna Dziama Plenipotentiary of the Chief Executive for quality and development of educational activities of the Copernicus Science Center.
Ewa Janus – Khouri Managing Director of the Targowa Center for Creativity.
Joanna Średnicka – CEO of Game Changers Academy.
Agnieszka Bryszewska – Director of business development in Central and Eastern Europe, Visa
The panel discussion and “brunch of failures” will be led by Jagoda Gandziarowska – Ziolecka Program Director of Pracownia Gier Szkoleniowych and Rafal Olejniczak – Coach, mentor, psychotherapist.
We can learn more from stories of failure than from stories of success. After the panel, we invite you to join us for a “failure brunch” discussion. We will go beyond the usual pattern of business talks. In a relaxed atmosphere, in intimate groups at tables, we will share stories about going through crises and making mistakes we experienced. We know that such meetings allow us to reframe failure into learning and valuable lessons.
Talking about failures, although it requires courage and facing one’s own discomfort, becomes an excuse to reevaluate the meaning of failure and error.
They give you the opportunity to see new value in them: a change in perspective and a deepening of your knowledge of yourself. Think, right now, what experience has influenced you and are you ready to share it?
This meeting is for you if you want it:
Support building a culture of creativity and innovation
ignite the courage to take on bold projects
And if you’re curious about how we operate – see what else we can do for you
